BEIJING, Oct. 17 -- The agenda for the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has been set at the preparatory meeting for the congress, spokesman Tuo Zhen said Tuesday.
Xi Jinping presided over the preparatory meeting at the Great Hall of the People, which was attended by 2,307 Party delegates and specially invited delegates.
There are a total of 2,354 delegates and specially invited delegates to the congress.
A 22-member delegate credentials committee was approved at the meeting. A presidium of the congress consisting of 243 members was also approved.
Attendees also approved the organizational setup and tasks of the secretariat of the congress.
Liu Yunshan was appointed secretary-general of the congress.
Tuo, spokesman for the 19th CPC National Congress, told a press conference that the agenda includes:
-- To hear and examine a report submitted by the 18th CPC Central Committee;
-- To examine a work report of the 18th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection;
-- To deliberate and adopt an amendment to the Party's Constitution;
-- To elect the Party's 19th Central Committee and its 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
The congress will open at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and conclude on Oct. 24, the spokesman said.
